How Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Embodies The Words Of Socrates
This shows how the highest paid actor in Hollywood (The Rock) is a living embodiment of the words spoken by Socrates himself.
Dwayne Johnson, also known by many as “The Rock” is an icon in the world of entertainment (in my opinion anyway). Not only did he achieve massive success in the WWE but also went on to become the highest paid actor in Hollywood.
Socrates was a Greek Philosopher from Athens and is widely regarded by many as one of the founders of Western Philosophy. His teachings were impactful on many people’s lives. So much so that even 2400+ years on from his death, people to this day still follow and practice many of his teachings.
Now how does The Rock come up in the same conversation as Socrates? Allow me to elaborate on this. Socrates once said the following:
“No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.”
Now if you look at The Rock, i would most definitely say that he has definitely see the beauty and strength in which his body is capable of. I mean just take a look at this photo:
That to me looks like a man who has put in years of work and seen the peak of what his body is able to achieve. He definitely would have made Socrates himself proud and if he were alive today, Socrates would probably refer to him in one of his teachings.
Now it’s difficult to say whether Socrates himself reached his physical peak but one can imagine that at some point he may have tried. Given that he was born in 470 BC and died 399 BC, we don’t have any images to show that he did but i’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.
Now for me, i had already started my journey towards living a healthier lifestyle before i came upon these words. Although i haven’t reached my physical peak, i definitely have made a significant amount of progress. The beautiful thing about working towards being physically stronger and healthier is that my mental health has also strengthened.
I was once a very lazy man. I never wanted to do anything but stay home, play games and listen to music. The thought of going to the gym used to exhaust me and it wasn’t until i was surrounded by many unhealthy people that i realised, i did not want to be like this anymore. Slowly but surely i started to make dietary changes, started to exercise and through time i noticed my mentality start to improve.
Things that i once saw as a chore, i was now motivated to do them. One prime example of this is me studying. From someone who had no intention of studying in his life to now being on the verge of finishing a degree in Financial Planning and recently having started my Diploma of Digital Marketing, i have seen massive improvements in a short amount of time. I am on a quest for self improvement and it has become very addictive.
So what i want you all to take away from this is that you don’t have to feel pressured to reach your physical peak BUT, by starting to live a healthier lifestyle you will most definitely see improvements in all other aspects of your life. You will become more positive and be more determined to take on challenges.
We all want to live a better life don’t we? I know i do.
